Advice needed

Hi,

I'm looking to replace my current Graphics card 8800GTS 512,

but I'm not sure what to replace it with, I'm currently using a 24inch monitor and I like to game at 1080P resolution 1920 x 1080.

I see the 4870 looks nice but I'm not sure since I've never had an ATI card, plus I herd they are refreshing their tech in April?

I would set aside any brand loyalty and simply buy the better card, which is tricky now since in many areas both Nvidia and ATI are evenly matched.

If you need upgrading then the 260GTX and 4870 are good buys and are faily evenly matched.

It doesn't sound like you're in a hurry so possibly worth holding on til April to see what comes?

Nothing less than a 260 or 1GB 4870 at that res. Could always wait if you're not in a hurry. Look for a cheap 280 for piece of mind, unless you want to go dual GPU/SLi. The 285s are a marketing gimmick.

Was thinking of 4870 1gb in crossfire but the 4870x2 works out cheaper?
