Hi Guys,
I have joined your forum to ask for advice on a new system I would like to build (my first) I am getting on in years and I find all the technical stuff confusing but would like to have a go at a build. The computer I have now is an old athlon xp 2600 based system which I had given a few years back (my first ever pc) which is now showing its age.
I use my computer for general bits and pieces, a bit of photo editing browsing the web use corel draw 8 occasionally etc etc. As this pc is going to have to last a long time do I save up my pennies and go for a i7 build.
I would be grateful for your advice as to what I should do and what components I should buy.
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
Mike.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your replies.
I already have a 19" lcd monitor and xp home 32 bit.
As I said this system will have to do me for some years to come so I would rather save up and have a bit of future proof if there is such a thing in computing!
It would be nice to have knowledge like you guys as to what components all work together.
Thanks again.
Mike.

Thank you for your reply

Hi,
Thank you for your advice. What would you advise for a general purpose Pc.
I am not a gamer but a pc with the capability to play the odd mild game would be nice.
As I am a total novice with all this would you be kind enough to advise me as to what I should buy.
Many thanks,
Mike.
