The only trouble with a laptop is you are locked spec wise. Generally speaking laptop gpu's do not match their desktop counterparts and expect the laptop to run warm too.

Unless you need a laptop for mobility, the desktop is a better option, and you could have one hell of desktop system with £1500 which would be far superior to what the laptop offers.
 
cpu and video in the laptop are better than you have now for sure. Also be aware with hard drives in raid 0 configuration(striping for speed), if you have an issue with the raid array or one of the hard drives then everything will be lost, so make sure you have backups of anything important all the time.

It's a kick ass laptop for sure, bet it is hot though
