Hi this is a crossover question about monitors and graphics cards. If a mod wants to move it that's cool.

I want a new monitor and the bigger the better. I have my mind set on the LG 34" '97 model but I'm open to suggestions such as Iiyama 40" monitors etc.

Predominant use will be games - IL2:BOS/BOM, Squad and other FPSs like Far Cry series, Crysis series and Dishonored 2 when its out. I also am a keen photographer so colour accuracy is important.

I currently run a 580GTX with an i7 4770k and 16Gb ram. Mono is a Sabertooth but I cannot remember the exact model. I know I'll need to upgrade the graphics card substantially.

So, in the real world and bears my in mind I can see when the frame rate drops below 55 or so, why monitor/graphics combo is good?

Is that LG monitor a good bet or is there a better alternative? Is it good enough for photo editing ie it has great colour accuracy? Is a single 980 ok or do I need a 980Ti? Or is dual 970s a better option?

Or, and I loathe the fact that technology moves on so you're always behind the curve (and I'm damn'd impatient), do I wait for the next Nvidia cards and whatever monitors are due to come out?

Cheers

Hmm my pockets probably aren't that deep but the VAT should be recoverable.

What about if I did photoediting on my current screen and kept the monster screen for gaming?

Also would dual 970s do or better to have one 980Ti? I suppose an alternative may be dual 980s (not Tis) but that may overstretch the budget.

Edit: I really don't want a curved screen.
