Edited………There is an improvement in Msfs with the 5600x…I was mistaken.

Just installed the 5600x and have absolutely no gain at all. In fact now I have a little stuttering that wasn’t there before.
I don’t use PBO and my ram is set to 3200 as it should be in bios.
I’m not up to date with the new bios,S . Am I forgetting anything to set.
My system is..
Msi B550 Tomahawk
Ryzen 5600x
Corsair 3200 32 gb
Oculus Rift S
Rtx 3080 FE

I’m thinking of putting the 3600 back in but I just can’t believe this new 5600x can be as bad as this.
I must be missing something.
Any help would be very welcome.

Might need clearing CMOS to get BIOS to adjust settings fully for new CPU.
Also some old BIOS might have bug which has been fixed.

Run cinebench and download CPU-Z. post some screen shots.

MSI boards can throw up a bug when swapping CPU’s.

Ok…will try to do that later, though the Passmark test is showing a 20% improvement as it should.
I’m starting to think it’s running correctly, which is just a little better than a 3600.

20% is more than a little better, that’s
like a decade of Intel improvements. Although a 5600X should probably offer a little more than a 20% uplift over the 3600.

I put My Ryzen 3600 back in to compare and realised the 5600x was smoother with no stutters in Msfs, so it’s better but doesn’t seem to be a big step.
Better will do though.

Assuming Msfs is Microsoft Flight Simulator, it's still a pretty heavy game. I also remember seeing the game can be very VRAM heavy but I would imagine the 3080 FE should be fine with that.

Another thing to check is your GPU drivers, I remember a few months ago there was an Nvidia fix for Flight Sim when playing in VR, earlier drivers had performance issues in VR mode.

Yes …As far as I know, the latest graphics drivers are fine. Flight sim is getting better with each upgrade (mostly)
It’s actually very good in Vr now for me but I thought I’d be able to increase some level of detail settings from 50% to 100% but I couldn’t.
All other sims such as Automobilista 2 have improved by a lot and they where already good with the 3600. Getting 100fps in 4K with everything on ultra, and Vr is the same getting the full 80fps with Supersampling at 1.4 using Oculus Rift S. ..very smooth graphics.
I’m thinking now that the 5600x is really quite good and only Msfs which is getting an update on the 7th is holding it back. The more I test it in the game, the better I think it is.
Will see if things improve further as Msfs gets optimised.

Looking at benchmarks online, it can use over 10GB VRAM at 4k resolution Ultra settings. I would monitor your VRAM usage and check if it is getting close to the 10GB limit, if so try dialing back texture settings and/or anti-aliasing (plus any other VRAM hungry features, I haven't played this game).

This game is weird. Sometimes lowering the graphics actually makes things worse. You have to get the balance right with cpu and gpu, but at the moment, I can only run smoothly when I have main thread limited. When I’m Gpu limited, I get dropped frames.
Anyhow, I’m happy to wait for updates.

many thanks
