Advice on a Case / PSU combination

Hi peoples,

I need a new Power supply unit but my computer case is really old now and I would really like a new one.

I have a first generation Antec Sonata case....

So basically I would like a new case with a power supply unit (600w) included.

I don't care if the PSU won't stand the test of time but I'd like to save a bit of money than buying them separately.

I don't want the case to be Massive, I'd like it to be medium sized. (ATX FF of course)

Has anyone got any suggestions?

There are so many case manufacturers to choose from it seems daunting. BitFennix cases look amazing but they are only mini-ITX...

BitFenix don't only do mini-ITX cases. Take a look at the Shinobi.

Sorry yeah, I meant the Prodigy range by BitFennix.

Budget wise...Cheaper the better but willing to pay a bit more to ensure the case/psu combination is not total rubbish.

Eg, if an extra tenner gets me tool-less drive installation I'll go for it.

I have 3 Hard drives and a nVidia 460GTX extreme..... I'm pretty sure 600 is what I need as a minimum.

You'll be more than fine with 500W or there abouts.

YOUR BASKET
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L8 530W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £66.95
1 x Zalman Z9 USB 3.0 Midi Tower Case - Black £54.98
Total : £121.93 (includes shipping : FREE).

I would take the U3 over the Z9 plus (I own the Z9 plus btw). The U3 has USB3 ports and a proper side window panel not mesh like on the Z9 plus. There isn't a great deal of space behind the mobo tray to hide excess cables, other budget cases are just as guilty of this though. If you use a modular PSU it will make life easier and the case will have better airflow (lower temps) as a result :)

Thanks bro, you're a star!

Only thing is my motherboard only supports USB 2 so U3 makes no sense for me, unless I consider the future perhaps... I am guessing the U3 doesn't come with a Header pin adapter for USB2?

The front USB3 ports are actually a male usb plug at the end. You pass the cable through the case, out of the PCI bracket (adapter plate is included) and plug the cable into the mobos rear USB sockets. As they are USB2 the front USB3 ports are going to be USB2.

I'm confused as I thought you were doing a build for £450 then you will have USB3 ports?
