Hi all,

Thought Id ask for you advice on a case. I had been looking at the Antec 900, but it seems to have recieved mixed reviews. However, on a practical note, the power buttons etc on top is great for me as my comp is on the floor. I had also looked at the Lian-Li PC-7 Plus which seems to be cheaper and has a good response, and looks pretty nice too.

I was wondering whether you could tell me if the Antec is worth the extra money. Also as this is my first build, ease of installation would be nice. Are there any others cases people could recommend from around that price mark? I would like it to be pretty quiet, and keep the system quite cool. Gonna try a small overclock on an E6600.

Many thanks,
gamer

Its eclipse 62...before you confuse the fella:)

You can overclock in any case...as long as you have a couple of decent case fans.
The Eclipse is the beter case (more expensive), bigger, more professional and looks OK. Cooling isnt all that great IMO. The 900 is smaller, (cheaper) runs cooler (even with fans on medium or low)....and looks really cool in dimmed light. It also comes with the perspex side panel...whih you will also have to buy extra with the eclipse. The main thing i didnt like with the 900...is that it kept sucking all the dust of my laminate flooring...and fitting filters to it would be a pain in the a**. The ecplipse comes with wheels and a dust filter...both good....but I would really say it depends what you want to put in it would be the deciding factor.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was gonna put in an 8800GTS, Asus P5b Deluxe, 1 Hard-drive, 1-2 Optical Drives, Corsair HX520. I had heard that it was slightly cramped. Should this all fit OK?

will fit fine...no probs at all. I had three hard drives, a Ninja cooler, 2 opticals and a GTX. The wiring was the only thing i found a pain in the butt...due to lack of space.

PC-7+....great case :)

Had a scythe ninja and a 8800GTS all fit fine, very roomy case and great value for money :)

If you dont mind spending extra money then get the akasa eclipse very good airflow and will cool your components nicely ;)

Unfortunately, I won't be able to afford the Eclipse. However, which out of the PC-7 and the Antec 900 do you think is better in terms of value for money, cooling, and noise level?

Many thanks,
James

PC-7 would be the only choice. Good simple design and not as much of a dust magnet as the Antec. You won't be disappointed - good build quality and layout as well as aluminium construction. It's a great case.
