I currently have an E6600 but im buying an E2160 because i need a cheapish second computer.

im also wanting to replace a couple of parts in my current spec so i need a bit of advice on what motherboard and ram i should get.

the parts i want to replace in my rig is;

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK)

Fatal1ty abit FP-IN9 SLI

now the reason im asking is because i wish to overclock (prefereably my E6600) but at the moment all i can get out of it stable is about 2700mhz. i think personally its the motherboard thats limiting me but im not that clued up on these things.

the first spec is a proposed spec for the lesser machine(not to be used by me :p) i have included the parts i want out of my machine in this spec.

Intel Core 2 Duo E2160 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.80GHz (800FSB) - Retail

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2 (OCZ2P800R22GK)

Fatal1ty abit FP-IN9 SLI

x-1950-xt

Enermax Liberty 500W ELT500AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

and for myself;

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Abit IP35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

the only thing i have missed out of my proposed spec is memory because im not sure what to get, so could some please advise me on some memory. and also do you think i would be better off putting the E2160 in my machine to overclock?

oh and i know theres no HDD's etc but i have those.

ah yeah should have said, i want 2gb and dont want to spend a fortune some where around the £100 would go to about £130.

main thing i need to know is the motherboard i have posted good for overclocking?
and is the ram i already have (the OCZ stuff) ok for overclocking, because if it is ill just buy the cheapest 2gb kit for the first pc specced, probably the ocuk pc2-8500c5

well mate, i wouldnt think the mobo would have limited your o/cing capability especially on an E6600. you o/ced it right? tried upping the voltage etc?

id wait til u get your mobo and try o/cing then, what PSU you using btw?

im using
Enermax Liberty 500W ELT500AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2
Fatal1ty abit FP-IN9 SLI

and yeah i have tried upping voltages etc, had it at 1.45 :P

the thing is with this motherboard the figures for fsb have been multiplied by 4 so atm it reads 1200*9 in bios when its really 300*9 which is confusing enough as i had to run the ram on 3:2 divider to get it at 800mhz. cant wait to get it out of my case :)

well mate, i doubt its your ram!! shouldnt have any problems with 6400 c4 stuff.

must be mobo in that case, ill get my ip35 soon so i could let u know how it goes, otherwise just read a review on it, afaik theyre fab boards, especially for the pricetag.

wait and see how u do with a new board, if all is well then just buy some cheap ram
