Advice on a size downgrade.

I'm using my old 32" HD LG tv at the moment and I have to say it isn't the best.

Not only is it too big to sit right in front of, stretching 1080p to 32" and sitting so close makes everything so stretched. When I lived with my parents it was a necessity but now I have my own house and PC room it isn't.

I'm thinking of an upgrade but due to a small budget (upgrading the rig at the same time) I don't know what to prioritise. I'm guessing that a lot of people have the same questions I do and would benefit from them all in the same place.

My three concerns are:

What is the best size for 1080p gaming? (As much as I would like to try out 4K my rig will never handle it). I'm a bit concerned dropping all the way to 24" from 32"may be underwhelming but if the clarity is that much better I'll do it. Is it true that 27" is best reserved for higher res? Has anyone dropped from 32 to 23/24 or even 27" and was the clarity worth the size drop?

What is the highest response time I'm going to be able to handle without noticing a massive issue in terms of gaming?

If I settle for a 60hz display, am I really going to regret it seeing as in coming from a tv? My rig will be the below with the addition of a RX480 8gb and an SSD for a while yet so I doubt I'm going to even see 60+ fps on a lot of games anyway at higher settings.

Really appreciate all the help, and sorry for the essay!

Budget wise I haven't got much free, £160 or there abouts so I'm basically looking at 60Hz and 27" 1080p at the most I guess.

There are a couple of Superwides at the price one being a £160 LG on OCUK (cheapest one), but I don't know if my rig will be stressed with this res.

GPU should be more than enough but the CPU bottlenecks it on some of the more let's say less optimised games like Metro Redux where I'm dropping to 30-40fps at ultra + SSAO at 1080p

Right so this helpful post above has made me realise I need to up my budget, so now I'm torn between:

27" 1440p monitor or a better spec 1080p 27" with a bit less latency etc.

24" high spec 1440p or shop around for a 4k monitor for future proofing reasons.

24" stick with 1080p but room left in the budget to get a 144hz display.

I have shortlisted some options but I cant for the life of me work out what I'm going to miss/regret the most...Speed, Resolution or Size in comparison to my current 32" (considering this will be close up gaming only nothing else as I have a 43" 4k for all Movie and TV needs)

Ive gone from looking at budget £160 monitors to having my max budget at around £260-270.

Also I find it funny that 99.9% of all monitors for sale are advertised with pictures of provocative women in lingerie or tight dresses. A fact my partner finds hilarious.
