Advice on adding to Lightroom

Hi, I have recently started using Lightroom 4.

I have put all my photo's which are stored in my 'D' Drive / My Pictures / 2012 / July / Pete's Birthday (for example) into it and tagged them etc (keywords) and what not.

Now my problem which I am unsure of are the NEW photos that I take for example a folder called 'Simon's 7th birthday party' which at the moment i have just on my desktop. I want to put them onto my D Drive with all the rest of my photo's.

But how do I then add THAT folder into Lightroom. As I do not want to screw anything up.

Hope this makes sense.

put 'Simon's 7th birthday party' in your d drive where you want it then in LR import screen locate file and import, it will not make any new DNG's as you are just importing a file that is on your pc already. Once imported you can edit as usual
