Since I don't have time to play games much nowadays, I've managed to put off an upgrade for quite some time! I've decided to re-build at the end of the year when the new breed of quad core processors come out from both camps, but I've been pondering a mini-upgrade to get me through the next 6 months.

I'm currently running 2 x 256MB Mushkin PC3200 Blk Lvl II BH-5 (1T, 2-2-3-11)with an XP2500 (10x226) and NF7-S v2.

I'm dual booting to Vista, though I don't use it much due to the memory strain. I'm also feeling that new programs on XP are becoming more memory hungry as developers assume that everyone now has more memory.

Therefore, I've been thinking about getting a 1MB module to slot into the one empty socket. I've been considering Crucial Ballistix PC4000, as this should keep up with the Mushkin memory.

After the re-build, this current system will probably continue as a second system, so a memory upgrade now isn't totally wasted money.

What do you think?

If you intend to keep your current rig as a 2nd machine then I would go for it, you'll definately notice the performance increase.
