Advice on Audio setup

Hiya there

I presently have a Medusa 5.1 Pro Gamer Headset but when this is plugged I am unable to add desktop speakers, I would prefer just to have 2.1 speakers if I could.

I am aware that speedlink have released the SpeedLink Medusa SL-8796 5.1 Home Edition + 5.1 Amplifier but I didn't really want to have to buy or setup a messy 5.1 system, any advice or does anyone have the new speedlink system and could they tell me if it only allows 5.1 connection or could it be used with a 2.1?

EDIT, Sorry I don't have the pro gamer, mine is a full 5.1 setup the progamer seems to be usb.

Sorry, I might have not been clear.

I like the 5.1 earphones, they are great, possibly the best on the market, but while they are plugged in I cannot use speakers, so I am thinking of going for the Medusa Home setup as this allows for the 5.1 headphones and the 5.1 speakers, but I wanted to know if you could use less than a 5.1 speakers setup and still have it work ok.
