Advice on brakes needed

Hi all,

basically the performance single pot sliding calipers on my escort 1.8D have seen better days. the cars a Mk6 escort and i was wondering if anyone knows or has done the following:

put escort GTI discs, calipers and carriers on the escort D standard hub? if so, does it still fit ok under the 13" steelies?

Not done it myself but i very much doubt that the GTi brakers will fit under 13" steelies. Theres also the question of whether or not the caliper will be correctly positioned over the disc when bolted up to the diseasal hub, i'm thinking it may not be pushed far enough out?. Anyway, its a 1.8D, so it doesn't really need better brakes, if you've got them already and they were free, fair enough but if your spending money, just fix whats on there already...

Don;t both trying bigger disc, or modified pads. On 13" rims, very little big stuff will fit, and modified brakes are a big issue to insurers!

Go for good pads, and a good refurb on the caliper. Feredo DS2500 pads are good in stock discs. Lots of bite!
