Hi all,

I’ve been putting together a build for gaming at 4K and general work, and I’d really appreciate a second opinion before spending the money. The case I’m using is the Phanteks NV9, which I already have. I’ve tried to choose quiet components where possible, and I haven’t finalised the rest of the case fans yet.

I’ve included two motherboard options in my basket — both seemed decent, but I’m not sure if there’s any real difference that matters. I’m also not fully confident about the PSU choice, so any thoughts there would be very welcome.

I’ll paste my basket below. If anything’s out of stock, I’m happy to wait or source elsewhere. Just very keen to make sure I’ve not missed something obvious or made any poor choices. Would be really grateful for any input or advice from those with more experience than me.

Thanks in advance.

Sam

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,441.81 (includes delivery: £0.00)

you don't need a 420mm cooler, a 360mm one is sufficient. also, better compatibility.
the thermalright frozen prism 360mm is less than half the price and near the top of the cooling charts
(i use one for my 7800x3d, so my recommendation is also from first-hand experience)

also, if you don't mind buying used parts...a 4090 is a much, much better buy than a 5080 (faster and has 24gb vram)

Saw some early reports about dodgy fans, but can't remember seeing anything since then. I don't know if these have been updated to include the 12v2x6 cable or if they're still the 12VHPWR.

You could have a look at the spreadsheet linked here, which has been updated for X870/B850:

On the face of it, the price of the Gigabyte is high, since it is in X870 territory (which is required to have USB4).
