Hi Folks,

So I finally ordered my system (well two in fact, one for me and one for my mate). It's been six years since I built my last one and I don't think I paid much attention at the time to the order I did things. I am hoping if anyone has any advice out there, you could share it :)

The two systems I have are;

System 1
Antec 300 Case
Asus CrossHair III AMD MotherBoard
Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
AMD X4 Phenom II 965
1TB Seagate Baraccuda 7200 SATA (7200.12)
Antec TruePower 650 modular PSU

System 2
Antec 300 Case
Asus CrossHair III AMD MotherBoard
Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz
AMD X6 Phenom II 1090T
1TB Seagate Baraccuda 7200 SATA (7200.12)
Antec TruePower 650 modular PSU

We are using our slightly older nvidia graphics cards.

I am just wondering if people attach the CPU and heatsink to the motherbaord and install the RAM and then fit the motherboard in the case or fit the motherboard in the case first, then install the components?

PSU goes in first?

Got my anti-static wrist-band so not taking any chances :)

Thanks for the advice guys. On a separate note - apparently the Asus CrossHair III AMD MotherBoard supports both processors. I am not sure what version of the BIOS the board comes with but should I just be able to put the processor on, then update the bios once I have installed Windows.

My concern is, for example, if the BIOS currently installed does not know about my X6 1090T or the X4 965 - will the machine even boot up? Is it likely to cause any damage?
