Hey guys, i have just decided on components for my build. What could be changed for better performance but not break the bank?

Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66Ghz Socket 775 CPU - Retail

PSU - Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT BFG

RAM (Memory) - Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) 800Mhz

Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar SE16 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache

Optical Drive - Samsung S203 20x DVDRW / SATA Drive With Nero Software

Case - GIGABYTE 3D Aurora 570 GZ-FA1CA-ASB Black

MotherBoard - Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R

For CPU heatsink, im gonna stick in a Thermalright Ultra-120A

to be honest seems all great to me, virtually the same as my build that i did last week, but i got a good motherboard so when i want to go quad core i dont have to change my motherboard,

so id go for something like this so it supports quad core, for when your ready in the future (and its got a little more strength)

i got this one

and its perfection :D

but i could be wrong, but dosnt seem like the one you chose supports quad core, but in my opinion its worth spending another 20quid so when the time comes you dont have to buy a new mothebroard, simple reason really mate.

If you intend on running vista x64, I would swap that processor for a e2180,
which is a saving of £69 which will pretty much pay for 4x1 gb of better ram.

thats if he intends on overclocking....i chose the e6750 over the e2180 because i didnt know how to overclock

as above, change the processor
if you don't know how to oc then it is time to learn! ...and it isn't very difficult!

if you are totally anti overclocking then buy a quad instead! otherwise all looking good

I would go for the quad core but i really don't need that much power.
The E6750 seems the best bet. Oh and that gigabyte mobo does support quad core. However, the ASUS is a bonus with the inbuilt WIFI(saves me buying a usb adapter)

Thats a good board but an expensive choice if your just gonna run at stock speeds.

yeh definatly mate, i will learn to overclock eventually, ive tried doing my research but nothing is communicating with my brain haha :p and im sur eyou can get good overclock speeds from the e6750

I have no need to overclock anything really. I'm building my system for performance in mind with NO overclocking needed for under £600.

I have the E6750 and the P5K-E wifi edition and its good enough for me. Had my last PC overclocked to buggery but haven't had the need to do this one yet :)
