Hi,

im looking to build a new system for gaming/overclocking

currently im looking at the below spec but any amendments/recomendations/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

For gaming maybe look at a wolfdale E8400 dual core. The Q6600 G0 quad is an awesome cpu, but presently is wasted in a pure gaming rig. A wolfdale should overclock a bit higher and with any look run cooler, tad more cache can’t hurt matters to.

GFX is good, so too is the board. Always have the option to run dual 3870X2 when drives are mature and your feeling rich again :)

Id go with G.Skill's 4GB DDR2 PQ PC8000 C5 Kits for £82

I hate Thermaltake products most of the time, but I know how good that psu is! :D Realistically though it is totally OTT for your setup !!

What PSU would you recommend?

Basically i want to maximise speed but also drop the price a little if some of the items i've chosen can be substituted for something as which is as good

Fact is many people run 8800GTX's and 2900XT's on 500watt psu's with no issues at all. The new 3870X2 actually draws less power than both those cards at idle and only a bit more at full load.

Yes the 3870X2 is a dual card single slotter but its going to be nowhere near as power hungry than say an SLI 8800ultra setup.

Maybe a heavily overclocked quad with dual 387X2's rucks of HDDs could justify that PSU, but only just :)

Something like the Corsair TX750W would be more than enough and costs almost half the price.
