Advice on building a gaming PC please

Hi,

Im thinking of building a budget gaming PC (never done this before) max budget would be £500, and parts would be bought each month, and also i would need a complete system - tower, windows etc

Due to my limited budget, i would buy the components each month, however im not sure where to start ?

I did think maybe get the processor first (have £150 to start this) - i had a look at overclockers web shop and see they have the AMD piledriver fx 6300 for £79.99

Is that a good choice or is it worth trying to get an intel processor - overclockers have intel core i5 - 3570k for £159.99, double the price of the AMD FX 6300. is the intel worth the extra £80 ?

Then i have no idea which motherboard to get - any suggestions ?

I would appreciate any advice.

May I ask how much you are able to set aside per month for the parts?

Since it sounds like you are starting the PC from scratch then I would recommend you save up the money and then buy the parts when you have it all together. Since if you buy the parts as you get the money for them you would likely miss out on new/cheaper parts and have to pay a fair bit for shipping many individual deliveries.

With a £500 budget I would recommend something on the level of this:

With your budget your probably looking at the AMD 6300.
