I had a look at a HP Pavilion dv7-6154ea today, I don't really know what to look for when buying a laptop, but it was £999.

What other laptops should I consider with a budget range of £700-£1000?

The laptop is for surfing the net, perhaps watching films when I'm stuck in hotels, perhaps listening to music and some gaming would be nice, also it is for my Mum to use so needs wireless n.

Also thanks to my company i get VAT off :) as it will be used primarly for work, but as you can see its a very nice spec with a Full HD screen compared to the HP as well as a 3 year in-home warranty. Also when taking into consideration between the XPS and an Alienware, apart from the GCARD there is absolutly no difference apart from quite a bit of £ so it was a no brainer :)

looks the same as mine just with all your extra's :) I personally feel the current deal on the extended warranty is not to be missed. Hopefully we will both enjoy our nice new laptops when they arive :)
 
My Mum has use of my Dad's p.c. which is in the little bedroom at home. It would appear the H.D.D. on this p.c. is becoming very slow. This H.D.D. is full of photos my Dad took before he died.

I was going to buy an all in one touch screen p.c. for my Mum to use downstairs, I can then transfer all the photos to my back-up H.D.D. before they become unretrievable.

A laptop seemed to make more sense as I can use it when I stay away with work. I shall see how much I use the laptop, I may still buy an all in one.
