Hi guys,

Didn't think this really fit in the Hi-Fi section so I've opted for GD.

I work for a charity that currently has to hire out PA systems for holding meetings at various venues, and some of the hire charges are very high (e.g. £275 for a microphone, amp and speakers for the day!). I'd like to scope out therefore what is available to buy. It's only for speech, presentations and questions etc, so doesn't have to be overly fancy.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing, in terms of particular products and prices?

Cheers.

Might be best in the music section, there are a few dj's on the forum and performing artists that will be able to give some advice

That seems really expensive for one days hire.

Have you any idea what wattage the PA and speakers are that you are currently using? If they do the job and are loud enough I would be straight to ebay to see if there is something similar.

Not a clue if I'm honest, I've only just got involved. It only needs to fill a small-ish room - the events are rarely above 80 people to give you an idea of scale, I have no need to fill a concert hall.

Just checked and there are loads on ebay for the same price that you are paying for a days hire. For what you are using it for these would be fine.
