My dad bought a brand new hyundai i20 in september and recently the drivers seat bottom has developed a squeek when you sit on it, now i said to him take it back and ask for it to be fixed as that shouldnt happen after a few months and his reply was " im not taking it back for something daft like that"

what would you do? i know its only a silly thing but its got a 5 year warranty and hes only done about 1500 miles in it so its not like its been hammered. myself id be straight back with it but sometimes theres no telling him

I'd take it back. It obviously doesnt bother him enough to warrant taking it back, so seeing as it's his car.....

ive had a quick look and give it a spray with wd40 but its still there it seems like it the seat part itself thats making the noise, im going to make him take it back though or if he wont i will :D

This might sound stupid. Does it have height adjustable seats? The reason I ask as my partners car developed this when I drove it. It was 14 months old.

I found by lowering the seat even as slight as 1/4 inch it stopped. She use to have the seat at the top because she is a shorty.

you paid the premium for a privilege of having a new car and all the trimmings that go with it. it should be NEW and feel NEW

if i ever buy a brand a new car ( which i would like to do at some point in my life) i would use the hell out of the warranty for anything i wasnt happy with.

I'm never going to buy a new car (I don't think it makes financial sense). - Problem solved. :D

The passenger side middle vent in my dad's F07 doesn't work, which is very annoying when you're a passenger as it is a bit stuffy.

He doesn't give a stuff though as he doesn't sit there and as such won't go to the dealer specially to have it fixed.

At the end of the day, it's his car so it's his choice.

It's a Hyundai, bought by somebody who does not expect the highest of standards in build quality, as his attitude clearly demonstrates.

My old man was getting squeaks & rattled fixed on his aged BMW -at great expense- right up until he sold it to me, he'd driven it since new, and has always had a strong dislike of said squeaks.

Fair play to your old man, he clearly sees the car as a mode of transport that'll make the odd noise rather than something that should be nigh silent whilst wafting him along as my old man does.

Leave him to it. :)

VW fixed exactly the same problem in my mums car, they replaced the whole seat! So it is a problem they will take seriously, although I had my doubts :)

I wish my car seat would make some noise that was loud enough to stop me from hearing the wifo's commentary of places she obviously thinks I didn't notice.
