Advice on chosing a sound card.

Hi guys, been long enough using onboard sound card and thought id finally buy a proper sound card. So as the topic says, I need some help chosing a good sound card for around <£60. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure everyone is going to recommend you get the Xonar DX card for around £60. I know that's what I'd go for, Creative cards just aren't worth the effort anymore.

Would there be any problems / differences if I use 5.1 sound system with a 7.1 card?

Nah, all 7.1 cards are capable of 5.1 aswell - you just use one less of the output sockets.

Due fairly soon as other places have it in stock apparently. Just wait a bit for now I reckon.
