Morning, so i'm looking to build a self contained PC in a flight case, monitor included which is capable of gaming.
Mainly doing this as something to keep me busy and utilise some parts I already have knocking about so trying to keep the budget as low as possible
I know it's never going to be a 4k gaming rig, that's not what I'm after. As well as keeping me busy, I do (or did) travel with work so this would come in handy)
I've cannibalised a 15.1 in LG 768p lcd panel from an old laptop, ordered the controller card from china and have various DDR2 and DDR3 ram sticks of various sizes, along with various fans, switches etc.
The advice I'm after is what should I go for for a Mobo/cpu/gpu combo to ensure a playable experience at 768p?
In an ideal world, I would be looking at something like an 2200g APU which I think would do the trick but that's expensive (relatively) or a low profile gt1030 along with a low end modern CPU.
But to keep things as cheap as possible i'm thinking of picking up equivalent older parts and this is where my knowledge lets me down.
What would be the oldest (and therefore Cheapest) cpu/mobo I could get away with and whats the older equivalent of a gt1030? 750ti?
Naturally heat and power consumption will play a part so don't want a graphics card with a high TDP ideally and if possible, a CPU with on board graphics that would do the job.
Open to any suggestions
TIA
