Advice on cpu upgrade

Well i have a Amd64 3500+ manchester core which i paid 150 for.
Ive been reading reviews on the opteron 144 and when its overclocked it has similar or better peformance than a fx57.

and is the 144 worth getting as ive ordered a scythe ninja to oc my next cpu
or stick with 3500+ and over clock that ?

well guys ive decided to go for a 146 with scythe ninja

see if i can get 2.8 on air will this in theory be fx57 speeds ?

Plus what ram do you guys recommend ?
