hey guys :)

Looking for a bit of input on my current computer situation and what to do!

My main rig is a q6600 (not overlocked) with 4gb ram, 60gb SSD with about 2.5 tb internal storage. 1 24" and 1 23" monitor

Ive purchased a new 2011 15" macbook pro (2.2 ghz I7) that im finding quite to my liking, if running a little hot (to be expected)

I was looking on opinions on whether to downgrade my rig to a basic server that:
A) I can connect my macbook to when its physically there (firewire for harddrives, thunderbolt for screens/harddrives)

B)I can connect my macbook to when im not phycially there by running it as a server online that I can connect to anywhere I am.

I dont see the point in running a dedicated what is essentially a gaming rig as well as a high end macbook pro.

That being said, im doing games design at university, and rendering is a big part of this. But I also live 200 miles from home, and theres a lot of reasons the laptop is a great buy, mainly portability.

I'm just after peoples opinion on what they would do in my situation :)

Cheers, Lawz

Keep the laptop and PC as is.

take (I know its a pain) desktop to uni and use that for work and use Mac for everything else really. The laptop will be great when you return home and "will do" when portable is a must. The PC will handle everything else. Thats what I would do.
