Advice on decent soundcard

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX - Is this card any good?

Im looking for a new sound card as my IC7 onboard audio is crap, the front speaker out (main output) doesnt work and never has, so for months ive been using the rear speaker out to get sound, but this doesnt work in some games etc.

Im thinking that this card looks better than it is judging by its price so could anyone enlighten me / give me some advice on a card worth getting or whether the one mentioned is good?

Budget would go upto £100 I guess if it was worth it.

It's not a bad card, but for the budget you can get a lot better...depending on what you want it for.

For gaming get the X-Fi Xtreme Music; it can be had for about £80 now if you look around.

I rarely play games, I listen to music a lot and have external amplifiers powering speakers etc, so I suppose a sound card that can enhance this.

Yea ive heard good things about this, although I wanted something with a front panel or breakout box just because it looks good

I will go and have a look at some more reviews anyway. Anymore advice welcome

Heard really good thing about the HDA Digital X-Mystique 7.1 Gold PCI Dolby Soundcard (SC-000-HT), not available till Feb

I will be using mine in a HTPC and games also.
