Hi
I am looking for a new monitor. Use is general gaming, light photo editing, general use. Currently I have a Dell 24" IPS 1920x1080, which has some IPS glow which I do at times find distracting.
Requirements:-
27" or a little bigger
Freesync
<£500
resolution 2560x1440
Doesn't need to support a particularly high refresh rate. Current graphics is an R9 390, and I suspect that 4k will stretch the card too far and generally only allows a limited Freesync range (e.g. LG 27UM67).
Currently the only real options appear to be the Benq XL2730Z or Asus MG279Q, and currently I am leaning towards the former. However the Benq has a TN panel (admittedly a good one) and I would prefer IPS, the Asus has IPS glow/backlight bleed issues. In both cases there is a premium being charged for 144Hz refresh which I am not really after.
I have three questions.
1) Am I being overly fussy about the two options, especially the Benq?
2) Are there any suitable options I have missed out?
3) Are there any upcoming monitors which may fit my requirements better?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
