Hi all, I have a 11 plate Mondeo 1.6 Ecoboost 13,000 and I have had a noise today which I never notice before. When I go to change gear, I dip the clutch and I hear a noise which sounds like the gears disengaging, and then I pull the clutch out and I hear the same noise as if the gears are re-engaging on the drive.
I have never noticed this before and it sounds worse in lower gears or if you got a bit of revs when dipping and letting the clutch back out. It don't sound like a torque restrictor I don't think as it is not a clunk sound nor do I think its a mounting. First time ive noticed it to be fair, and I know I have heard it some cars before, even my last mondeo, but to be fair that was on 140,000 miles and I knew the clutch or box was on its way out.
I know it is normal to hear the gears selectors on cars when you move the gear stick, but this is not that sound as the linkage is quiet, this is on the clutch itself. Im wondering if it is on the thrust or if the car is Dual Mass flywheel, then it is on that but there is no rattle sound.
Does this sound a normal sound??? Any advice is appreciated as I will get it done under warranty if needed. Thanks.
