Hi

I'm in the process of rebuliding a new system and am alittle unsure on what graphics card I should go for -

Spec so far -

Intel core 2 duo E6420
Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3
OCZ 2GB PC2-6400 Dual Channel Platinium

Looking to spend around the £100 mark on a decent card but not sure if I should go for the new 8600 series or 7900. I have been reading a far amount of comments regarding the 8600 series and it seems a lot of people are very sceptical on its performance and price.

cheers

ross

Grab a second hand (or new if you can) X1950 Pro, great cards and reasonably priced.

i'm not a massive gamer but want to start being able to play some of the latest games on decent settings and currently run 1280 x 1024 resolution.

hope this helps

Hang on a sec...

A second Hand X1900XT 256mb you say...it just so happens I know someone Cough*me*Cough who has one for sale for within your budget...(ookkk, if I can't PM you you certainly can't PM me :(...umm).

I can't see anything about not giving contact details in the rules (please correct me if this isn't the case..), so ross1204, contact me at

Hi

Just wondering if I could have some answers to these questions on this spec plz.

Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 - £82.24
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 - £135.11
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C5 800MHz Value DDR2 - £93.99
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 - £135.11
Hiper HPU-4M580 Type R 580W ATX2.2 PSU - £56.39 inc

1) will it play the latest and up and coming games on max settings?

2) is this the best x1950 pro card for price?

3) would this setup be able to run the new dx10 ATI cards smoothly when they come out?

4) Any suggestions on other components that would be better suited?

(Plz bare in mind i'm not looking to spend a crazy amount)

This would be a massive help.

Thanks

Ross
