I have ran a website for a few years now but havent done much in those years because of university commitments. Well now thats over and Ive been concentrating on my site for reviewing pc/console games etc.

My problem is that Im wanting to have good quality reviews from anyone and everyone that wants to write one. Im not sure how to go about getting people to write reviews for the site. In the beginning it was planned that my friends would help out but they ended up being busy.

Im guessing some sort of incentive is required to motivate people to write reviews for a relatively unknown site so my question is what incentives would make you write a review to be put up on a site?

Install an application such as wordpress, which if I remember correctly allows people to register. Grant them different levels of access and publishing permissions and there you go?

Perhaps not what you're after but might be worth a try. :)

are you supplying the products to be reviewed..

if you are, i dont think you would have trouble finding people who would write reviews for you in exchange of trying new products/games..

Ive used Joomla to make the site and there is an option for registered users, Ill definitley have a look into that in the next few says to see if I can have users submit articles to the site.

Thanks for the quick reply :)

I do get some games from THQ so far to review so I am defo willing to supply them for free in exchange for reviews.

Sorry for double post

Yeah, reviewers sometimes get to keep the products they review. I got three PSUs out of a site I did some work for.

Go for joomla 1.5

see my site - http://miagaming.com/ Once I had the template all the contents is setup by userself, you can give people access to be able to post their own articles.

Joomla is very easy to use and has a lot of free addons

Wow nice site! Ive got Joomla 1.5.10 up :D. What Joomla extension do you use for article submission?

nice site hornet :)

The only thing I'm not that happy with Joomla is the editor.. What you see on the editor isn't what appears on the posts.. 'tis a pain..

Can anyone recommend a decent one..

same the default editor was rubbish I had massive issues getting "read more" to work. Am using JCE

ashmanq - Regarding the articles I just use joomla itself. As there is only 2 of us that post there is no need for anything else, but if you want others to be able to post you just enable to module that allows article creation and then set it so only certain people can see it.

Joomla is a definate learning curve but once you are used to it, its a joy to use.
edit......its not that is difficult it just takes a bit to get your head around

Installing new modules is easy and its uploads and unpacks the .zip files for you

I use http://www.ukhost4u.com/

most companies have cpanel which has fantastico installed, you can use this to install joomla for you, its good for beginners.

But if you want a setup like mine you will need to get a decent template and use its installation files.

Yer are a lot of good free ones out there and some excellent paid for ones
