Hi all i recently invested in a new Motherboard/CPU/Memory to compliment my recent GFX card and Monitor purchases. Having never overclocked anything I have had previously I would like to learn how to do so (without breaking something), but require assistance/guidance. Here's my current rig:

Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 5 WiFi Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 2700 (air cooled with Wraith fan)
16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance LPX Black, PC4-24000 (3000), Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 15-17-17-35, XMP 2.0, 1.35V

Zotec 1080TI 12gb blower edition
Cooler Mster Silent Pro 700W PSU
Samsung 970evo 500GB (Primary OS)
Samsung 840evo 250GB (Games)
Crucial BX200 250GB SSD (Spare)
Western Digital 4TB (Storage Drive)
Case Fractal Design ARC Mini R2 Tower Case
Alienware 34 curved gaming monitor aw3418dw

I do have a Corsair AIO cooler (dual 120mm fans), but it is one of the first versions so would need a bracket.

So what do I do first?

Thanks Rob

First things first: order a bracket. You can do some gentle overclocking on the Wraith but keep it simple.

Next: read/watch some general overclocking guides plus some specific to your platform. You have a popular CPU so there should be plenty of information online about it.

Start slow and gentle to learn how it works. Get some stress test and benchmark tools like 3DMark and Prime95. Take records and screenshots of temperatures, benchmark scores and settings so you can come back to them or compare.

Set up your case airflow nicely. It's just as important as the direct component cooling as without that, you're just efficiently dumping CPU/GPU heat into the case but not out of the system.

Get used to monitoring component temperatures and taking logs - set up fan curves for everything. I really like MSI Afterburner as it stores logs and can monitor lots of data including CPU/GPU temperatures and clock speeds.

Most importantly go slow and enjoy it :)
