Hi guys,

If you could get a 64gb wifi ipad 3 for Xmas (my gf let slip its what she was going to get me, she is getting it cheap, £300, its brand new, knows somebody who gets discounts etc), would you? I know the ipad 4 will be out in April time, is it worth it or not?

Im trying to decide. I really like having the newest version of things but i think this is a awesome deal, especially while being a student its not like I can buy expensive stuff at the moment.

I love my iPad3 and won't be going to the 4 as I can't see them making as significant a leap as the screen was. It also does everything I need from 1080p playback to reading comics. It packs enough power to run all of these fine and their won't be a significant update enough to change this.

The only improvement I could see really making a difference in the 4 would be Battery and weight.

At £300 I'd take that any day, at worst you can sell it for a profit and pick up the new one if you feel the need at the time of release.

You can of always wait for the next thing. But I doubt very much that there will be anything as good as a 64Gb iPad 3 available for £300 before Christmas, assuming that the capacity is important to you...

Well I have a 32gb 3g iPad2 and I've not found a use for it yet besides gimmicky stuff like clapping along to xfactor on tv and playing words with friends slighly bigger than my phone in bed. I highly recommend you get this tech investment put into a wiiU and many release games for xmas. The only game I fancy upcoming for ipad is WRC3. Lets be honest if you're the average user like me buying on impulse you'll get bored and put it on charge in the other room and leave it there til your broadband goes down and you use it to webchat customer services to get your pc internet back on.

I think you've missed the point of an iPad and this thread.

Don't get an item designed for media portability, get a WiiU home entertainment system...

Can he get me one? lol

I'd be more than happy with a 16gb at £300 new never mind a 64g.

About to pay full price for one myself soon.

Well I missed the point but like many used it as an impulse purchase and in the home there are better items for entertainment. I don't need it outside the home as I'm either driving or working anyway.

Then that's your fault for impulse buying and not taking in to account what you'd actually do with an iPad.

No need to discourage other people away from it without knowing why they want one or how they'd use it.

It's a luxury item in the home at best, for people who travel or are on the go it's a brilliant piece of kit that puts Music, Films, Tv Shows, Reading, Web browsing, Social Networking, and even Work Productivity, right at your finger tips, anywhere you like.

As with anything in this world, it's usually a Use vs Cost scenario, at 600 it's a difficult decision for average Joe Blogg, at 300, it's a damn steal considering re-saleability on Apple products.
