Would really appreciate some advice on these options:
1) AMD R9 390 GPU and an Asus MG279Q (27”, IPS-type, 1440p, 144hz, Freesysnc),
- Would the Freeysnc make up for the lower GPU performance of the R9 390 e.g. FPS dips (compared to option 2 below)?
2) NVIDIA 980ti (~£500 level models) and same Asus MG279Q (as the cost premium for for the G-SYNC Asus PG279Q just feels too much. Seems it's also still a panel lottery for both as well
).
- No Freesync, but would the extra GPU power of the 980ti offset the lack of this somewhat? Also, would v-sync and/or Frame rate limiting still be needed or beneficial etc? I don't know much about the impacts here (tearing etc.)
3) Another 1440p IPS monitor (either with an R9 390 or 980ti)
- Seems slim pickings unless limiting choices to 60hz monitors (e.g. a Dell U2715h), but would v-sync and or frame rate limiting then come into play again?). Also, TN is not an option
Note I currently have a Dell U2312HM Monitor (23”, IPS, 1080p, 60hz) which is pretty good, so I’m looking for something that is a decent step up and ideally that has a bit more colour ‘pop’ (always felt the AG coating on the Dell was a little bit aggressive).
For info, I mainly play FPS games, but usually not competitive ones like CS:GO, Battlefield etc. e.g. I’d be likely playing the Far Cry 4, Fallout 4, GTA 5 etc. I may give SW Battlefront a go though
Thanks for any advice
