Hi guys.

With the 50" Plasma TV's dropping in price so much recently, it's got me pondering...

I am thinking about selling my Dell Ultrasharp 3008WFP 30" Widescreen LCD Monitor and adding a bit more money and getting a HP ZR24w 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor and LG 50PK590 50-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p 600Hz Plasma TV with Freeview HD. I don;t want to link to the monitor as it maybe against the rules, but a quick Google search you will see which one I am talking about.

In the past I have had 24" Dell Ultrasharp and in terms of size for a monitor I found it to be perfect. At the moment I am using the 30" Dell as a TV and monitor. With the 50" Plasma I can use it for watching movies and playing console and use my 24" monitor for my PC gaming.

Another benefit is by getting the 50" TV my girlfriend could be using that when I am on the PC.

Has anyone here gone from 1920x1200 to 2560x1600 and back to 1920x1200 again? I personally don't think it will be a big issue for me.

What do you guys think? Stick with what I have or go for the 50" Plasma and 24" Monitor? Also what do you think of the Plasma TV and monitor I have chosen?

Thanks guys.

I can never understand how some people can use a 30" monitor for gaming, maybe for video editing and photoshop, but Ive always found using a 22" to 24" perfect for me. So really if it feels right, its always the best choice.

So i would get the 50" TV and the 24" monitor, your getting a decent monitor for gaming, video editing etc while you'll always have your TV for HD movies.

yeah i think the same too ! why do people want a screen the size of the Wembley Stadium ha! does it make the games more real or is it just a gamer thing ,so u can say to ya mates i got a 60 inch screen and play shoot em up 6 ha!

I went from a 30" + 24" to a 24" and 19" and haven't noticed the missing space. That said, what I do in Photoshop doesn't really require 2560x1600 res but does require the colour accuracy of the 24" I bought to replace it. Gaming was great on the 30" but I can't say with the very few games I do occasionally play that's suffered going to 24" either.

I'l probably get another 30" in the future for pure multimedia use as it really is a fantastic size. For movies I would take the 50" plasma but for games the 30" wins it for me every time.

So my conclusion is basically for you to keep the 30", get the 50" as well, and worry about the bank balance later.

Haha, if I did that I would be bankrupt in no time.

I think I will go with the 23" Dell monitor. Much cheaper and only 1 inch difference from the 24" :)
