Hi,

I'm looking to build my first computer and have a budget of £1100-£1300.generated the following list of parts that meet my budget. I hope this system will be future proof (for minimum 3-4 years) and will be using it mainly for gaming, my university work and some light photo/video editing.I just want some advice from you guys to check that this would be a decent rig and also for any changes that you suggest I should make before I purchase it all.

The components I have chosen are as follows:
YOUR BASKET
1 x "Quasar 210i" Intel Core i5 4670K @ 4.2GHz Overclocked Haswell Gaming PC Bundle £374.99
- 1 x Standard Build Systems - Approximately 5-7 working days £0.00
- 1 x Kingston HyperX Genesis Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3K2/8GX) £59.99
1 x Asus GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £359.99
1 x Samsung 250GB SSD 840 SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TD250BW) £133.99
1 x Seasonic G series 650w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £99.98
1 x Pioneer BDR-208DBK 15X Dual layer BluRay RW / 16x DVDRW Black - OEM £79.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £67.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 300R Mid Tower Case - Black £65.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H60 V2 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (Socket LGA2011 / 1150 / 1366 / 1155 / 1156 / AM2 / AM3) £59.99
Total : £1,324.32 (includes shipping : £17.85).

I would like to keep the cost nearer to the £1200 mark so any ideas on reducing the cost would be helpful.

Thanks
Bali

I'd rather use the Plextor M5 over the 840 but I've dropped to the 128GB Toshiba (which is rapid) to save cash. I did increase the storage to 2TB though as it's on offer. Much faster RAM. 500W or there abouts is ample for a single GPU setup. I spent more on the case so I could use the H100 (and show it off through the window) which is better than the H60. Spent more on the case but clawed it back on the cooler ;)

Hope this helps, I'm sure you'll see some other suggestions come your way soon :)

Thanks honosuseri, but just before you posted, I was editing my post slightly. If you could make another suggestion based on the edited post I would be ever so grateful.

Don't bother with the bundle bud. If you must have a Seasonic Gold rated PSU you can still have one and save some cash.....

Hopefully you have an idea how to tweak things a bit better now :)

EDIT

It's not a necessity but would be preferable as it would be useful for burning hd videos.

Ahhh you changed it to a Bluray burner. The blanks are quite dear though, personally I use Dual layer DVDs and encode the videos to fit on those

Yep, you've been very helpful and I thank you for it. Just one gripe is that I think I've made my mind up on the corsair 300r case as I dont' think my desk can accommodate the case you've suggested. I just wanted to know if the corsair h60 would be adequate for the corsair case or could I go with something cheaper?

Fair do's mate, case is a personal preference. The H60 isn't great to be honest, I'd go with a H100 or not bother with the CLC at all.....

The K2 Mount Doom my buddy Idleman used is a BEAST for the same price as the H60 (it beats it for cooling obviously). I've used a cheaper alternative as Idleman has spec'd the K2 for you to see :)

Quite surprised about the H60. Thought it would've been alright. Ahh well I think I may well go for the K2 Mount Doom :D I think that's that then eh, I would never have thought to go with the alternatives you've suggested. I can't thank you enough for all your help.
