I'm building a new rig, I already have a nice case

Antec NSK6500 Super Midi Tower Case - 430W PSU

and these are the components im considering buying

"Radon Allosaur" Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.40GHz Overclocked Bundle - Asus

XFX ATI Radeon HD 5670 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ)

would my 430W PSU be able to handle this or would you recommend a new one? If so which one?

Thanks

You're looking at around 300W so in theory yes.

It depends on the make of the PSU.

If it's a good quality make you'll be fine.

If it's a generic no name model then these usually struggle to output their claimed wattage.

What's the make of the PSU and does it have a label saying how many amps it has on the 12V rail?

Antec do make some good power supplies but that case and PSU seem to be from around 2006. Today that power supply would be classed as "basic".

The PSU only has a 4 pin connector for the 8 pin CPU power connector on the motherboard.

The 8 pin connector provides extra power stability especially for heavily overclocked CPU's. You'll could just try it with 4 pins and see how it goes.

I think that power supply has a 6 pin PCI-E connector which you won't need for the 5670. You could always get one of these to boost power for the CPU:

ok thanks man, that's a big help. :)

If you were to buy a psu for this build, bearing in mind I will probably have another 500GB hard drive, and I won't be overclocking my graphics card in any way. What sort of thing would you recommend?

Something like this:

or this:

or for higher efficiency this:

Thie first 2 are only certified as 70%+ efficiency. The BeQuiet is up to 87% efficient (costs less to run).

A 500W supply would allow for a graphics card upgrade in the future.
