dear all

got a budget of £1250 for processor, motherboard, power supply, memory, x 1 ssd and cooling. Case and anything else I will buy outside of the budget. I already have two new monitors.

pc will be used for office work, some video and music editing.

What do you guys suggest?

For video editing you really want 32gb ram, more cores would also be beneficial.

Do you already have a GPU as that CPU doesn't have onboard graphics?

what processor and GPU would you recommend?
A 10700k maybe a good option as it has onboard graphics while also having a couple more cores than the 5600X for only a few quid more.

Finding any reasonably priced GPU is a problem at the minute as supply is low while demand high and this is also compounded by the recent spike to the price of crypto currencies which means miners are now buying up anything that's available so atleast in the short term going for a CPU with onboard graphics means you can get your system up and running while you try and find a GPU.

quick guides

half the price, half the power for new mac mini's - interesting when 16 cores come out

what your after though.

Ryzen 5000 series

ryzen 3000 series
https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/a...9-10850K-for-Adobe-CC-Are-They-Worth-It-1838/

you see about 5% uplift from 5*** over 3*** series. against intel, amd Biggest gains are 6 core 5600 over 10600k and 12 core vs intels 10

decoding

GPU- no need to go overboard but second hand RTX 2060 would do fine

https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/a...-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3060-Ti-Performance-2019/

and ram, intel likes more whether its slower and with Ryzen , good about like 32gb but faster !

hunt around for say gtx 1060

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,141.05 (includes shipping: £11.10)

intel version - forgot to add a good aircooler or 240 AIO to the 16 core amd. Intel version comes with 64gb ram vs 32gb above , remove a pack and £140 lighter

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,150.91 (includes shipping: £11.10)

How does this look?

Western Digital SN850 1TB NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 2280
ASUS AMD Ryzen TUF GAMING X570 PRO WIFI AM4 PCIe 4.0 ATX Motherboard
AMD 5800X
TeamGroup Xtreem 3600MHz 32GB
Corsair TX-M Series 650 Watt 80 Plus Gold Certified
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 ti - may have to look for something else as lead time is like 3 months.

do you think I need additional air cooling? Looking at a bequiet case or phanteks primo.
