Advice on New custom PC build

Hi,

I'm in search of new system and based on my requirements I've kinda arrived to specs but when I tried to do a custom build using "system configurator" (here at overclockers.co.uk) the price shooted up around to £1300

whereas my budget is around 800. I'm not sure if i did any mistake choosing components.

My application is basically CPU intensive and I would be needing a CPU near to "Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz" with 8GB (minimum) or 16GB (recommended). I would also do some gaming when no load on it.

So my rough specs:

Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor
8/16GB RAM DDR3
Asus P9X79 PRO Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard
1GB/2GB VRAM Graphics card
Cabinet with 750W PSU with adequate cooling
Intel SSD 120GB Drive
Basic DVD Drive

**No game controllers required
**No Monitor, K/B and Mouse required
** NO OS required

Now, Can anyone please suggest me full config "near" to the above configuration (with break-up price) so that it can be purchased within my budget limits. Sorry, If I'm asking for too much :)

Thanks much,
Bhvn

youre going to have to think about a lower processor and mobo,as 2011 socket doesnt come cheap and £800 isnt a great budget! dont get me wrong that doesnt mean you cant have a good system for that budget! i spent a good couple of months researching hardware for my new build and choose the 2011 socket,it cost £650 just for mobo and cpu and i got that cheap elsewhere!!!!
think youd be better off looking at socket 1155,perhaps asus p8z77 series and perhaps i7 2700k(which has built in graphics!)

cpu £200
mobo £100-150
ssd £100
16gb ram £80-100
optical drive £20
psu and case £100

you will need to look around, obviously cant point you to it all! bit hard to give you exact cofig not knowing what your needs are! a lot of people(like me!;)) buy a 3930k cos they want it not need it,its a very powerfull processor and id have thought youre very unlikely to fully utilise it! set your sights a bit lower and im sure your find yourself a suitable rig for that money

Thanks for reply!

your suggestion is nowhere near to my specifications and budget.

As I said my applications are CPU intensive and benchmarks lead me to choose Intel Core i7-3930K. (I would be happy if any CPU suggested "near" to it with some good price reduce :) )

My rough estimate went this way and reached £965 but I still would like to hear some expertise advice in terms of reducing budget.

Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor £444

8GB/16GB 60/90£
Asus P9X79 PRO Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard £222
MSI HD 5450 1024MB GDDR5 Low Profile PCI-Express Graphics Card £26

Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case £45

Intel 330 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £81

Samsung SH-S222BB/RSMS 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black/Silver/Biege) - Retail £20

Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Blue (Socket LGA 2011/1155/1156/1366/775/AMD AM2/2+/AM3) £67

Total = £965 /£995

well you said around £800! and now your looking at a £1000,whats the expert advise you want to hear with reguards to budget? you could shave about £60/70 off the mobo and cpu the rest is the cheapest your going to get!you said youd be gaming but that graphics card isnt going to get you far(depends on the type of games your talking about),are you looking to overclock if your apps are so intensive? in which case you need to think about a different cooler you also might want to think about a hdd for storing as you dont want to wear out your ssd.you havnt mentioned a psu.theres a lot to take into account.
trust me by the time you finish youd have spent a lot more than you planned too.

Hello

I have made a budget of £1200 ready for this box. Can anyone please provide a reasonable basket with the specs?

Must:
- Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor
- 16GB DDR3
- DDR3 motherboard

compromises:
- Any basic graphics card is fine (as I will plan for high end card later)
- basic SATA HDD is fine (7200rpm or so)
- No OS needed.
- Monior, game controller, K/B, Mouse NOT needed
- No overclocking is needed

Thanks
Bhvn

Thank you Idleman for the basket!

1. How can I order this basket to overclockers?

2. Are they going to send me individual parts or assembled?

Thanks again,
Bhvn

1. You can order these parts via the configurator, if you want them to build it for you. But it will cost a bit more. Or just add the parts to the basket, if you are building it yourself.

2. Depends whether you want to build it yourself or not.

If you are not too confident building it yourself, you could drop them a line via Customer Services. Explain what you need and see what they can come up with.
