Advice on new graphics card please!

Hi all and Merry Christmas!

Decided to upgrade my 8800 GTS because it just doesn't play GTA IV as well as I'd like it to.
I haven't brought anything new for a while so I am a bit out of what is good and whats not these days!
Looking to spend around £300 so any advice on what will be best for my budget is greatly appreciated!
Also going to go up to 4gig which should boost performance as well

If you can stretch to it the 4870X2, otherwise 260GTX MAXCORE or 4870 1Gig. I'm not sure if GTA4 supports crossfire or not so the X2 might be somewhat wasted.

GTX 260-216, Nvidia cards are better at GTAIV, and its as good as the 4870 1gb, if not better.

even if you leave it theres a couple for just over £300, for the sake of ten-fifteen quid its prob worth getting a 280

Are the ATI 4870 x2 really worth it over the cheaper say £300 GTX 280's.

Look around and you can get a 4870X2 much cheaper.

Or wait for the GTX295 to come imo. It should be the best card and 4870X2 prices might come down even further, giving you a good choice.

If you are willing to spend £400, then I would wait and seen how the GTX295 performs then decide. Last thing you want is, buy a 4870x2 or GTX280 and find the price drops as soon as you take delivery of you card.

I agree with the others.
Usually i would say don't wait but seeing as you have a lot of money to put down for a card i would wait for the 295 to see how performs and of course it will knock the price down of the others.
