Advice on next upgrade?

My Current Build:
CPU: i7-7700k
Mobo: MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon
Cooler: Corsair H55
RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200MHz
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1080Ti Aorus Xtreme
Power Supply: Seasonic 850w 80+ Platinum

I like to game and also stream to twitch on my single PC setup, I'm looking for recommendations on a CPU/Mobo upgrade for around £550-£600 max.

I'm thinking I need to upgrade my CPU with how games are going lately, and that means motherboard too.

I'm currently thinking between the i7-10700k or the i9-9900k with a decent motherboard to match.

I'm open to suggestions for both Intel & Ryzen to get the best value for my money.

Motherboard Requirements: Must have 4 RAM slots and 2 M.2 slots minimum.

If you wait it out a little longer, the new gen AMD processors will be revealed and that should lower price on current gen.

Wait for Zen3, i wouldnt touch the Intel lineup right now - nothing in it shouts WOW.

Absolutely! I would go for a decent X570 motherboard and a 3700X or similar as you’ll at least have PCI-E support and can with the right motherboard have two NVME drives connected directly to the CPU. Unless you game at 1080p in competitive FPS games the CPU is not the bottleneck.

You can get the 3700X for a little as £265 currently, a good motherboard such as the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E is less than £300 if you don’t need WiFi is then the ASUS ROG Strix X570-F is less than £250.

No need to even spend £250 on a board. You can get a solid B550 board for much less i.e B550 Tomahawk.

Will a setup like this be compatible with an RTX 3080 when that drops?
