I have been with O2 for 18 months on a 35£ contract, had the LG Viewty and then bouth a 1G iPhone which i am using atm.

I've been getting calls from CPW about upgrading and I've been trying to squeeze either a 3G or 3GS or Blackberry out of them.

Thing is, I only want to pay about 25£ a month as I have not been using all the minutes that I have on my contract, but the free web bolt on i got is used a lot.

I popped into the O2 store but they wouldn't give me a blackberry free unless it's on a 35£ contract, or 25£ but i'd have to pay another 10£ for the web bolt on.

I was offered the Nokia5800 by CPW but i'm not interested in it as a friend has it and i'm not that impressed.

As for the iPhone, the cheapest they would offer me is at 35£ a month for the 3G free.

I've already cancelled by DD with O2 and I'm wondering if I'll have more luck talking directly with O2? Does anyone have an experience with it? My contract is very nearly up.

I found in the past if you threaten to go elsewhere.. even if you have no intention of doing so, they put you through to the retention team.

From there you are in a much better position to bargain with them as they want to keep your custom. So you might have some luck.

They wont budge on the Iphone pricing as they know everyone wants one. I rarely use my minutes but use 700 texts (you get 500 with iphone), I've tried to get a deal but no luck. So stuck on my SIM only for £20 a month and broken phone :(

Yeah, that's what I have been advised by friends to do as well.

I would be happy with the Balcberry 9000 if I could get it for 25£ a month for free as well as the unlimited web and considering that Voda do this for £30 a month, I would think that O2 would stretch to it if I threatened to leave.

After speaking to someone in their retention team, I was told that if I wanted the Blackberry Bold, it would still be £35 a month.

So I got my PAC code and gave the 30 day notice.

My question is now, has anyone done this and still got a call from the provider near the end of the 30day period to see if they can work something out?

LOL you would be extremely lucky to get the Bold on less than a £30 a month tariff...its the best BB in the BB range and still sells for close to £500 sim free. Although if you do get it for less than £30 a month then you wont have much ie texts or calls...and they probably will charge £5 extra a month for the BB plan which you need to get your 'push' email services.

If you got your PAC code then just sit and wait to see if O2 come back to you...highly unlikely though as your not a very high spender so they can afford to lose you as a customer...your not worth their time to keep unless you go for a higher tariff.

To give you an example im with Tmobile...using a Bold which i bought off line...my contract was up for renewal in May and because my monthly tariff is £60 a month..thats with the BB data plan etc...they bent over backwards to keep me...my bills are usually £100 average a month. They basically told me any phone i wanted i could for free...went for another Bold but unlocked it and sold it privately..plus i pay £50 a month now instead of £60..saving me £10.

Saying all that good luck with whatever you choose to do...i highly recommend the Bold...the best device ive ever used in my time of owning phones and ive owned all sorts for the past 13 yrs.

Yup, that's pretty much the impression I got after talking to them. I'd be happy to have significantly lower minutes and texts but keep the unlimited data for about 25£ a month but they wouldn't bend to that either.

Hmm, having checked out the simplicity tarriffs, I think I'll probably jump to the £20 one with the unlimted web bolt on to tide me over until the Iphones become available on other carriers.
