The ram is three sticks, 1gb and two 512's, they have different timings though, will this matter?

Oh and i expected the HT to be at 5 at default, its at 4?

Looked around in the bios to lower the RAM frequency, cant find it though?

First off your ram is single channel. with your ram is should be dual channel. The slowest ram speed dictates your overall ram speed but should not dictate your potential overclock.

more info please.

i wouldnt try dual channeling 3 sticks, no way.

dont even think its possible

for the ram timings change them to the same as the 1gb stick (if they support it)

Ram always runs at its slowest setting. Set in the the bios to 3-4-4-8. You will never get fast pie score with this ram but you might get faster clocks, more with SC.

so i set the ram to this, should i take the HT down to 3? its at 4 now, expected it it be 5.
The HTT speed doesn't really make any difference to performance but generally you should keep it at 4 and then reduce it to 3 once the FSB is at 250 or above.

That's not particularly high no but I would've thought that you'd be able to get further without having to up the voltage, as that particularly Venice chip should clock quite well. So you've put the RAM on a 166 divider now right so that it's running at 200MHz? When you say lockup, do you mean it just crashes after you get into windows?

Balls to it.
was planning on having a minor upgrade and clock this to see me through 6 months then get a conroe, gonna get a new chip for this instead.

what would be a nice 939 chip and graphics card for the msi k8n mobo?

Was thinking a 4400+ and a x1900?

Any ideas why i can clock to this, but pushing it a little further and it boots to windows, and freezes after a few seconds? I refuse to believe that this is all it will go

At 239 now, and its steady.
Doesn't sound too good at 240, and freezes a second after.
