Hi Everyone,

I would like to say first off the last time I overclocked I had a Xp2500+, so it's safe to say I'm out of the loop.

I'm interested in overclocking my i7 setup, I've got no issues playing any games per say...but I'm intruged in overclocking and want to gain the extra knoweldge. I'll obviously read the stickies on how to do this, but I would appreciate some user views on what I could/should overclock to.

so, my current setup..

Antec 900 Case
i7 920 (original, not d0)
G.Skill 6GB DDR3 NQ PC3-12800C9 1600MHz (3x2GB)
Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
Corsair TX 750W
Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5

At the moment i'm more interested in overclocking the i7, as my 4870x2 gets quite hot already (I'm waiting to see some third party coolers on sale over here).

Therefore, what do you think is achievable with this setup?, how much better is the d0 stepping for overclocking and for those that have overclocked their i7's, which cooler would you reccomend?

Your info is appreciated.

David

Take a browse around the these forums mate theres loads of people with that set up. Have yet to see a D0 chip not hit 4gz mainly down to the user or hardware then the chip no being able.

With that setup you should be able to get a nice stable 3.6 with the C0 revision you may need abit more voltage with that CPU than the D0. You will need good cooling if attempting to go higher speeds on the C0 920 CPU.
