550w is more than sufficient.
cpu 150w, gpu 275w, the rest of the components won't use more than 30w

also im considering overclocking but due to the r9 i got not being aftermarket it has limited cooling potention so i cant overclock due to overheating, i had a little nose around on ebay and saw this case with 4 fans included and possibility for a 5th, would it be a good investment? (only has 1 usb 3.0 and 3 usb2.0)

Remove the side panel of your case and try overclocking the GPU then. If it still runs into trouble, then a better case won't help.
