Long time since I've posted on this forum, haven't really been keeping up to speed on the latest hardware for a couple of years now. I'm looking to build a new rig mainly for visual effects and editing work (with a side helping of gaming too!) but I am in dire need of help deciding what to go for!

My main focus is RAM and hard disk space. I've got the hard disk set up covered, one system disk (possibly SSD), one scratch/render disk and one storage disk(raided). As far as RAM is concerned more the better really, it'll be good to take advantage of 64bit programs and address as much memory as possible!

Now this is where you fine people come in, I haven't got a clue when it comes to processor choice, mobo or GFX. Bang for buck is key and the i5's look pretty decent. Graphics wise I have no clue, I'm currently thinking nvidia to take advantage of the sexy CUDA functionality but I wouldn't know what one to go for. Being able to play a few games wouldn't hurt either!!

Top end price would be around £800 I think but lower would be better! Any thoughts?
