Advice on pc setup and why I get BLOD

Would be good to get advice on my current set up as my OS keeps crashing. I get the blue screen of death.

This happens when I render videos in Adobe premiere Pro or work on it too fast. Also in my DAW, reaper, it often crashes the comp.

I have not Overclocked my CPU nor GPU.

When did it start happening?

Have you made any changes to the PC before it started?

Have you run memtest, or similar?

What speed and voltage is the memory running at?

I built my computer during covid. But started using it heavily 6 months ago.

When I render the full files in Premiere Pro the mouse freezes up and it stops me from doing anything. So what I have done is open task manager and I noticed that GPU goes to 100%.

At this point I only had the default Cpu one. I was not able to buy a graphics card because of the whole Bitcoin mining thing and only last week I got myself a new graphics card so I put down the reason to not having a decent graphics processor. However same thing happens.

One thing I forgot to point out was that I noticed my PC was quite dusty. I wouldn't say clogged but I can see how the weight of the dust might slow down the fans so when I cleaned this I noticed some improvement in the performance in that I was able to render small selections in premiere.

I'm not sure I've tested speed and voltage of the memory however in general full RAM is not being used. How would I check?

Have you seen the pic. I thought maybe my set up is efficient enough to circulate enough air in my room.

Hmm, I don't use Premiere Pro, is GPU-rendering an optional feature, or does it automatically do this?

You can find out the speed it is running at in CPU-Z, should be 1600.

DRAM voltage, I think you'd have to look in the BIOS.

A 9900K can be hot, but let us know what temperatures are like.

Are your front fans set to intake air? If so with your rear fan also set to intake and no roof fans or even vents it will be getting very warm in there with the gpu and cpu dumping their heat inside the case. Most people set their airflow up as front intake, rear/roof as exhaust so I would spin the turn the rear fan around to exhaust the air as well as fit your cpu cooler fan to the opposite side and set it to blow air through the cooler. Is the cpu fan even plugged in as I can see a 3 pin fan connector just hanging loose in your picture.

Another thing to try is update the motherboards bios as there have been many optimizations and compatibility fixes since launch. F12 is the latest and you should be on it anyway as it includes a serious vulnerability fix. Just download the bios and unzip it to a usb stick. Restart the pc and enter the bios and find Q-flash. Start it up, point it at the usb stick confirm that you want to do it and let it do it's thing. Do not use any windows software to flash the bios.

For temps you can use HWInfo it will also show your memory speed and all voltages as well.

hmmm...under heavy load, does the computer crash with BSOD without the 1660S?
If it does not crash without the 1660S then the answer will either be the GPU or the PSU

If the computer crashes without the 1660S then I would suspect either a faulty BIOS setting or more probably...bad cooling
The 9900k can pull 200+ watts at PL2, the CM212 is a low-mid range cooler at best...not really an ideal pairing with a 9900k that is going to be heavily used for long periods of time encoding or what not

Looks like dodgy gpu or cooling problems as it crashes under load.

Get core temp and gpu-z, check temps under load and idle. If it spikes high and then crashes, maybe reseat cpu cooler, and as others said, check fans etc.

Yes it has the option to disable. Tried both. Crashes either way.

Gpu and Cpu under 50c when idle. They went to 48c for Gpu on load and Cpu 72c. That sounds hot!?

Also my c drive is the 250gb Ssd, but I have 47gb free. I'm sure that must play a part too.

DRAM voltage, I think you'd have to look in the BIOS.

Memory speed is 1600 and dram is 1.2v. I defaulted my bios just in case I tweaked it. And also made sure latest installed.

Yes the front fan is set to intake air. Doesn't look configurable to switch it. But there are no vents round the front of the case. Only a thin mesh that runs from top to bottom. I've added a pic of my case.

The cooler fan is plugged in and working. I've plugged in the larger pin.. This three pin is in the middle of the wire. Unless it also needs plugging in?

Yes you're right. The back fan was blowing on the inside. I thought I'd point it inwards to provide cooling. I've switched it around to blow out of the case now. Yet to switch the fan on the cooler but do I need to.. As it is facing the back external fan so will blow the heat out?

The other problem is on the other side I've got the RAM sticks so not sure how the fan is gonna fit properly.

I've got the latest firmware on the bios.

Yes it did.

I might need to look in to better fans then. But also a better case. There's barely any room for my Gpu, sound card, WiFi card, etc.

Im going to unscrew everything. My motherboard looks dusty too. I'll focus on the airflow to begin with.

Think that will be doubled, so running at 3200Mhz. Will need upping to 1.35v.

Drive cages will be blocking front air intake. Can they be removed?

@Kashif7 those CPU temps are ok. It's not the cause of your crashes.

As @freddie64 mentioned, I also think this is probably the cause of your crashes...too little ram voltage.
