Hi

Looking at replacing my existing machine and was looking to purchase the following:

MSI P965 Platinum
Crucial Ballistix 2Gb DDR2 PC2 6400
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Gainward 320Mb 8800 GTS Bliss Golden Sample

I have a couple of SATA HD from my current machine but I need to know if the Enermax Noisetaker 2 (485w) would be powerful enough to run all of that or would I need to purchase another more powerful PSU ?

Thanks in advance.

Not if you want a 8800GTS as well, would go for at least 500w+

Something from Antec, Corsair, Tagen or Seasonic would be fine

Thanks for the quick response. Had a bad experience with 2 Tagan supplies not working which resulted in a couple of trips up and down the M6.

Is it a case of the 485w PSU I have would just constantly struggle to keep everything going ? as you mention 500w+ and it hardly seems much of an increase in power.

Thanks.

Your PSU should be fine IMO with the 8800GTS, as long as you don't have massive overclocks + lots of HDDs and optical drives running as well.

At present a DVD-RW and a couple of 160Gb SATA (these may be replaced with something a little bigger as storage is an issue).

Thanks.
