Advice on PC upgrades

Evening all.

Looking to upgrade my gaming PC over the next year or so, I want to be able to use an Oculus Rift without stuttering (I've read to do this the game needs to be running at 60-70 fps continuously) and support 2/3 monitors without overheating.

My current set up is Palicomps Alpha Excite which has served me well since I got it about 2 years ago.

The specs are in the link but for those who don't want to be clicking links:
Intel Core i5-3570K
Gigabyte Z77-D3H motherboard
2GB ATI Radeon HD 7850
8GB Ram
2TB hard drive and a 128GB SSD
Aerocool Strike-X Advance Black Edition tower

I've just come off a game and according to Speccy my CPU is running at 56°C and GPU at 63°C. This seems quite hot? I don't know much about that kind of thing though. Either way my room heats up quite a bit when running games, it was unbearable over the summer.

What I'd like to do is upgrade my CPU to i7, RAM to 16GB and GPU to something better but I'm not sure what. Also wouldn't mind watercooling it and having a nicer tower. Not sure if I'd also need a new motherboard to support all this too..

So could you guys give me a hand and recommend some things for me?

For gaming, an i7 isn't likely to provide you with much of performance boost compared to your 3570k. 16Gb of ram also isn't necessary for gaming. You'll get more performance out of your machine by putting that money towards a better graphics card. You could probably upgrade to a 780ti by the sounds of what you've budgeted for already :) Or better yet, wait a few more days to see what the performance/ price of the gtx980 are like before making your decision.

Temps are looking fine whilst gaming and not too hot, start to worry when you see 89c +

Agree with theMilitant your current spec is ok and a upgrade in the GPU and probably the power supply will be the main upgrades.

I see. Interesting, so it'd be better to just spend the cash on a better graphics card.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Much appreciated :)
