I am looking for a new PSU to run my media system.

I am on a limited budget of £65 inc Vat

I have seen and been told of the Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 450W ATX2.2 Modular SLi Compliant Power Supply is a very good suppy.

I have also been looking at the

Akasa Ultra Quiet 500W Paxpower Active PFC ATX2.2 Power Supply - Black Nickel

OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply

The system is on 24/7 but is in the living room and needs to be very quiet. I want to have some room to upgrade going forward change in GPU (46** series) so thats the idea with the bigger watts PSU.

As they are all around the same price I am tempted with the OCZ but I have no idea about this componant and would welcome your comments.

Be Quiet range gets good reviews & should be enough even for your planned GPU upgrade. As long as the GFX doesn't need extra juice (PCI-E power connector) 400~450W PSU should do ;)

if u want a little bit more headroom to be sure, and arent bothered about modular, the corsair 550W is same price and would be better quality than OCZ or Akasa

johnnyguru a better review site imo

I agree, but there also only one beQuiet review on that site.

Big problem with bequiet is it's only made for the euro/230v market so they get very few reviews on the decent sites.

Problem I have here, people keep saying they are the best without given any reason or evidence why, apart from "I like mine" or similar.

Search around and read a few reviews. You'll find they are brilliant power supplies, though the price means that I personally wouldn't buy one, for a Corsair isn't too far off and is usually far cheaper.

The extra headroom is nice, so I would go with the VX550. They are quiet too.

i like mine :D

But on a serious note the build quality and packaging is great! I now cant hear my PSU over the rest of my system when idleing. Dont regret the purchase, def worth the money IMO
