Well my power supply has a very high pitched electrical sound at all times which is driving me insane and I have decided to get a new one.

I really don't know enough about which power supplies and brands are considered the most reliable so i would be grateful for any advice.

I dont want to spend more then 140£ if possible but reliability is the most important thing for me, I have two gtx 280s and 4 hard drives with and overclocked core i7 system with 6 case fans.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

would a 850w psu be enough though with out my system straining it? I am not sure if i should go for a 1000w because of the 4 hard drives.

hard drives dont draw much power - about 12w each. so 50w combined.

i think the 850w will be fine and have some headroom left. :)

Peak draw is probably around 550W. (also games don't fully load quad cores)
So quality 850W is enough.

7-8W continous and 10-12W momentarily during seeks.

Thanks for the replies guys, Ill be getting that Corsair 850 one then :) also i have also orderd a plug in mains energy monitor so I can be sure what I am using.

I must have just had bad luck with the 850w one i have now it is stable but ear piercing even with headphones on.
